I was four years old when I first discovered the magic of wildlife. I remember holding a tiny clutch of blue tits in my hands, completely captivated by something so small, fragile and wild. I didn’t know it then, but that moment would stay with me for life.

As the years passed, my curiosity grew into a passion for photography and the wild places that have always offered me something increasingly precious: perspective.

Life can be busy. A professional career brings pressure, responsibility and a constant demand for time. Yet stepping outdoors has always given me a way to escape the noise, slow everything down and simply be present.

For me, wildlife photography has never been about just taking photographs. It is about the experiences behind them, the anticipation, the patience, the unexpected encounters and the stories that unfold when you spend time in nature.

Most importantly, it is something I love to share. With my wife, my family, my friends and my clients, these moments outdoors have become a source of solace, connection and escapism.

From those blue tits at four years old to the wild encounters I seek today, that fascination has never really left me. If anything, it has grown far stronger.

Now, perhaps the greatest privilege is being able to share that feeling with others, watching someone’s face light up as they experience something truly wild for the first time, whether through my own slice of wild at home or in extraordinary places around the world through Apex Adventures, the business I co-founded.

The reality is, that after all these years, I realise I’m still that four-year-old boy, captivated by the wild. Only now, I have the privilege of opening that door for others.
